History of Killington’s Summit Lodge

The Summit Lodge, the first lodge built in Killington, was established in 1960. Current innkeeper, Billy Bauer, came to the Killington area to ski and has worked at the Summit Lodge since 1977. He was originally hired as a dishwasher and then became the lodge manager. Billy purchased the Summit Lodge in 2005 and continues to live on-site daily with Rachael, the newest Saint Bernard puppy.

Setting foot through the doorway of the Summit Lodge is like stepping back in time. Billy and the Summit staff feel strongly that the lodge maintains the lifestyle of the classic New England lodge. The décor of hand-hewn beams, fieldstone fireplaces and prominently displayed antiques create a warm and welcoming ambiance. After a long day on the slopes, sink into an overstuffed chair and enjoy a signature Summit cocktail in front of a roaring fire.

The Summit Lodge continues to cater to its guests during all four seasons. During the summer months enjoy a refreshing dip in our outdoor heated pool, visit the Gazebo Bar or play a game of tennis on one of our 4 red clay tennis courts. Year-round enjoy on-site massage therapy and a soak in our oversized hot tub.

During the winter months, our Saint’s Pub (located on-site) serves a complete dinner menu, including fresh salads and tantalizing appetizers. A full-country breakfast is also included with your stay during the winter. With the slopes only minutes away, take advantage of our FREE shuttle from the Summit front door to Snowshed Base Lodge, and enjoy a day of skiing or riding.

Staying at the Summit Lodge continues to be a family tradition. We are proud to welcome back our past guests and continue the ritual of greeting third generation guests each year!
